2013 Agenda Beginner's Casting Event The Deal On Rooms

This year the Sandy River Spey Clave is totally integrated.
Instead of "Ladies Day" on Friday, as in the past three Spey Claves, Friday has turned into "Beginner's Day", which focuses on introducing new anglers into the sport of
Spey Fishing.
Male and female Instructors/Presenters will mixed into all three days of the scheduled on-the-water programs.

What is the Sandy River Spey Clave?
It's a gathering of anglers interested in two-hand fly rod fishing.
It provides a format for the exchange of Spey casting & fishing information.
It's a free Spey casting college open to everyone.
It's a show for your entertainment.
It's a place to rub elbows with the best Spey casters and steelhead anglers
in the World!
Has been termed, "The Woodstock of Spey casting events"!

This year there will be a number of fly tackle rep groups
to put on a show specifically for the Spey casting fraternity.

May 18, 19, 20 there will be a number of "on-the-water" casting/fishing programs each day.

The plan is to provide a weekend that will entertain and inform you.
If you are interested in meeting other steelhead Spey fishers and hope to learn a lot about Spey casting and more about steelhead fishing, the Sandy River Spey Clave is for you. The event will start at Oxbow Park on Friday morning the  17th of May and conclude on Sunday 19th. Exhibitors may set up on Thursday May 16.

This time of year there should be plenty of Summer Steelhead. Most years it is also the peak of the Spring Chinook run.
The days are long and the weather is warm.
This event was first proposed by The International Spey Page and Discussion Group.

To attend The Sandy River Spey Clave there are no charges except for the Oxbow Park entrance and camping fees. Oxbow Park Entrance Fee is $5.00 per vehicle.
Camping Rules Have Changed At Oxbow Park

Ready, set, reserve Oxbow Regional Park is now offering online camping reservations. Thanks to a new partnership between Metro and the State of Oregon, visitors can make a reservation in advance and head out to the scenic Sandy River Gorge, knowing a tent or RV site is waiting for them. You may reserve your favorite campsite up to nine months in advance.
Reservations can be made by visiting: www.oregonmetro.gov/oxbow, or call Reservations NW at 1-800-452-5687, using a MasterCard or Visa. Pets and alcohol are not allowed in Oxbow Regional Park.
Other changes for campers: the formerly coin-operated showers are now free, check-out time has been extended to noon, and two vehicles are now permitted per campsite. For 50 years, the 1,000-acre natural area park has been a recreational treasure, offering visitors an opportunity to walk in an old growth forest, view migrating salmon and sleep under the stars. No pets (dogs) are allowed in Oxbow Park.
