New for 2006, The Echo2 Series of rods was designed by Tim Rajeff to bring the expectations for a fly rods performance...and its utility, to a new level.  Echo2 rods feature a selection of high-performance features, including top-of-the-line components, superior actions and stunning good looks. To further agitate our competitors and brighten the eyes of our customers, Tim put his design brain into overtime and created the Echo2 rods to perform better across a wider range of applications than any other rod on the market. Every Echo2 rod comes with 2 tips with differing actions; one tip is marked “A” for accuracy and the other “D” for distance.

A Tale of Two Tips, A.D.
As a long-time casting instructor, Tim Rajeff has always tried to teach according to the physical and personal casting style of his students. Some casters have body types that naturally fit a more aggressive and abrupt casting stroke, while others are more fit for a smoother, slower style. Tim doesn't hold anybody to a given technique...different strokes for different folks, right? The problem many casters encounter, however, is matching their rods to that specific style. The Accuracy tip was made for, well… accuracy. (Help me out here--they don’t pay me to be witty, just versatile). To quote Tim, “The accuracy tip is softer, which allows the rod to load with less line out the rod for times when you are starting with the fly in your hand. The accuracy tip also helps people who have smoother casting strokes because they can feel the rod load sooner in the stroke and help them take full advantage of the rods overall power.” This is the tip you’ll use when fishing flats, or making quick casts to moving fish.

The Distance tip is stiffer. This is the perfect tip to use for bringing sinking lines to the surface, for throwing longer lines, and for people with a more aggressive casting stroke.

Regardless of which tip you prefer, having an alternative gives you a great degree of flexibility in order to better meet the demands of fly-fishing.

You also have a spare tip in case of misfortune...in case of breakage.  Let's face it, the tip is the smallest diameter, most fragile part of the rod.  The tip section is often the most vulnerable part of the rod,

ECHO2 7’8” #3 was designed for small to medium rivers and small ponds. At 7’8” the rod is short enough to fish up close or under obstacles but has enough length for longer casts. It has a fast action when the “A” tip is used and has a medium fast action when the “D” tip is used. The rod is designed to throw small to medium flies.

The Echo2 8’0" #4 was designed for small to medium rivers and lakes. 8’0” is a good length to keep casts low to the water to help punch casts through the wind. It has a fast action when the “A” tip is used and has a medium fast action when the “D” tip is used. The rod is designed to throw small to medium flies.

The Echo2 9’0” #4 was designed for medium to large rivers. 9’0” is a good length to mend line and to keep back casts out of the trees and grass. The rod performs well in situations where delicate casts are needed to fool big fish. It has a medium fast action when the “A” tip is used and has a medium action when the “D” tip is used. The rod is designed to throw small to medium flies.

The Echo2 9’0” #5 was designed for medium to large rivers or anywhere trout live. It is the most popular rod for most trout fishermen. The rod has a perfect balance between action and power and feels like an old friend the first time you cast one. It has a fast action when the “A” tip is used and has a medium fast action when the “D” tip is used. The rod is designed to throw small to medium large flies.

The Echo2 9’0” # 6 was designed for medium to large rivers or locations that require extra power and distance. The rod is great for throwing large dry flies, chucking buggers, or for fishing sinking lines in rivers and lakes. ECHO2 9’0” # 6 was designed for days when the wind is light and the fish are spooky. The rod has enough power to punch casts into a breeze but is still light enough for stealthy presentations. It has a fast action when the “A” tip is used and has a medium fast action when the “D” tip is used. The rod is designed to throw small to large flies.

ECHO2 9’0” # 7 was designed for medium to large rivers or marine environments where a lighter rod is best. The rod is a perfect 7 weight. It has enough backbone for longer casts but is not so stiff that you have to work hard to load the rod. ECHO2 9’0” # 8 was designed to perform under the widest range of fishing conditions. As a tough fresh water rod it handles heavy flies and lines for salmon, as well as long lines and sink tips for steelhead. In the salt it handles long casts into the wind without giving up. The rod has a friendly action that is at home roll casting heavy heads to the surface or chucking them a mile. It is also a good rod for situations that require a person to start short and get to the target in a hurry. ECHO2 9’0” # 12 was designed as a casting rod that can still crank tuna and billfish to the boat in a hurry. The extra heavy butt section helps drive half a chicken sized flies into the stiffest winds. Equipped with a removable fighting grip, it meets the needs of the Tarpon fisherman as well as the offshore fanatics. ECHO2 12’4” #7 was designed to bring the ease of Scandinavian style Spey casting to people fishing in medium to large rivers where extreme distance is not important. It is also a great rod for overhead casting in the surf zones where heavy rods are not necessary. Like most lighter two hand rods the 7124 ECHO2 will allow a person to fish all day without tiring in the least. . ECHO2 12’4” #8 is the most popular rod for Scandinavian or underhand casting. Using shorter shooting heads and a “Spey cast” Europeans have made using two hand rods easy. The 8124 ECHO2 is the best all around rod to fish large rivers with most fly patterns. It was also designed to throw Skagit style heads to dredge for steelhead that refuse to rise to a fly. It has a fast action when the “A” tip is used and has a medium fast action when the “D” tip is used. The rod is designed to throw medium to very large flies.

ECHO2 12’6” #9 was designed for big flies and long casts. The fact that you are using bigger flies and casting farther will not cause you to tire easily. The 12’6” rod feels light in the hand even though it has extra power in the butt to help lift ridiculously large flies. Besides working great with Scandinavian heads the rod easily handles Skagit heads with insane sink tips.
