What Happened at The 'Vous? The Northwest Fly Tyers Rendezvous for 2008 is history. The event was again held at the Mt. Hood Community College Campus in Gresham, Oregon. This is a really nice facility that the Fly Tyers have secured for the event. We were invited again this year, and obviously, we accepted. They put on a very nice event and we like the chance to meet our customers and give support to a really good group that supports the fly fishing community. Some of the best tyers in the fly fishing world live here in the Pacific Northwest and attend this event. While we would like to see more commercial support for this event, it is well worth attending. All the tyers invite anyone with any degree of interest in fly tying to sit down with them and learn any techniques regarding the construction of fishing flies at just about any skill level. There is also a raffle, silent auction and a verbal auction. A couple pictures of interest: The photo of Mark Bachmann tying Green Butt Skunks and two very polite young folks paying rapt attention. Gratifying to say the least. And the picture of the Lionfish....simply incredible. I have had one of these specimens in a saltwater aquarium in my home. I thought it might be a very well preserved fish. All artificial, all fly tying material and 100% amazing. Looking forward to next year….. |
