Combine near weightlessness with a groundbreaking level of performance, and you get the new TXL Series rods. Or, in other words, more fun than anyone deserves to have in a pair of waders. Now, through the miracle of our exclusive Generation 5 (G5) Technology, going ultra- light no longer leaves you at the mercy of wind or unexpectedly big fish.  G5 Technology, with Modulus Positioning System (MPS), allows us to build an amazingly light fly rod, while increasing strength, smoothness and sensitivity to "line feel." In angling terms, that means you’ll cast better, fish more effectively and enjoy yourself more. Whether you need to make the perfect presentation to that crafty brown who’s seen it all, or simply want to maximize your small stream experience, the TXL redefines the concept of light-line fly fishing.  On the subject of redefining the concept, we’re proud to offer the TXL in the revolutionary new 00, or "double- ought," line weight.
This is the lightest fly rod ever made, so Sage also designed a special, custom line for it as well.  TXL Series rods feature ultra-light snake guides, a unique, round tip- top guide and a micro-stripping guide to enhance performance and keep weight to an absolute minimum. A finely crafted, nickel-silver reel seat with a Vera wood insert and six-inch cigar- style grip complement and perfectly balance the golden olive shaft.  Try a TXL and we think you’ll agree, there’s never been a lighter, more sensitive, high-performance rod made. You’ll also discover that its greatest attribute just might be how much fun you’ll have.  Available in line weights 00 through 4.

Rio Fluoroflex® Plus
This exceptional leader and tippet material is made from 100% fluorocarbon (PVDF). Fluoroflex® Plus is the strongest, thinnest fluorocarbon on the market with an incredible strength; for example, 5 lb for 5x material. It is a slightly softer material than Fluoroflex and ties excellent knots. The refractive index (1.42) of Fluoroflex Plus in water (1.33) compared to nylon (1.62) makes it almost invisible to fish. Fluoroflex Plus, with a density of 1.72 (compared to nylon of 1.15), sinks quicker and gets below the surface tension for more effective dry fly, nymph and wet fly fishing. 7x - 0.015 inches. 30 yds (27.5 m).

Pictured is a strand of remarkably invisible Fluoroflex® Plus tippet material from Rio.

Report from the Keys
We are still here, prior to popular belief, the storms have missed the Florida Keys completely. The rest of Florida is really beat up but we got lucky. Fishing has been good for bonefish, jacks, and permit. There are also some tarpon around on calm days.
This is probably the best time of year that we are getting into as far as catching big bonefish. As the water starts to cool into the upper and mid 70's the fish are triggered to feed aggressively. I have had a lot of good action with tailing bones the last few days.
Please check out my web site if you are considering a trip to the Fly Fishing Mecca of the USA.
Thank You for tuning into flyfishusa
