The Wow Cast. The Holy Smokes Cast. The highly coveted Are You Kidding Me Cast. These are just a few of the new casts Sage discovered during the development of the new, ultra-high-performance TCX Series rods. Evolved from the popular TCR Series, TCX rods redefine the extreme distance category, as Sage continues to push the outer boundaries of fly rod performance. |
|
|
| Our rep
George Cook explained TCX as being much like the TCR, but whithout
the harsh personality. Our test of TCX rods revealed them to be
extremely easy to cast with. Even members of our staff who usually
shun fast action rods were impressed with how smooth TCX rods cast.
To harness the expanded energy produced by Sage's advanced
Generation-5 Technology, rod designer Jerry Siem created a radical
new series of tapers and a fly rods that are lighter, stronger and
more powerful than its TCR predecessor. Most importantly, the
enhanced line feel and feedback mean intuitively better timing and
an extraordinary level of casting ease for ultra-high-performance
fly rods. Whether you're reaching for previously impossible lies, bombing it into a stiff Nor'Easter or showing off in the parking lot, the TCX provides skilled anglers with the ultimate tool for success when facing the most challenging situations. The question is, what kind of amazing new casts will YOU make with them? |

| Few rivers stir up steelhead fly fishing fantasy like Oregon's Deschutes. Big, brawly, wind swept and hard to wade, it tests the metal of "out-of-staters", and locals as well. Being the first deep, cold tributary east of the ancient Cascades of the Columbia, the Deschutes gets supercharged runs of Redband Steelhead. Many steelhead from upper Columbia tributaries summer-over in the Deschutes' to escape the Columbia's warm flows. These grabby steelhead come aggressively to the surface for flies presented with floating lines in the classic fashion. This year many new successful fly patterns have emerged and we've got the best supply anywhere. Our guides are on the Deschutes constantly this time of year. Call for the latest up-date on where the fish are and what they are taking. |

Bennett's Halo A somber pattern that is a sleeper for clear water. Thios is a great pattern for dour fish and also a great come-back fly for fish that have risen to, but refused a brighter pattern. |

The White River can turn the lower Deschutes into a glacial mess
when warm autumn rains fall on Mt. Hood. The electric blue body and
hot green butt will find steelies in off colored glacial water.
More so, it's a great searching fly in any water condition. The
unconditional has gained a strong following on many of the interior
Columbia River tributaries, especially the Grand Ronde.

our good friend Ron Walp: A Mayonnaise Jar and Two Beers When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers . A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.' The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. 'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. 'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.' One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.' The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.' |
