Fishing Report
The Salmon Fly Hatch is in full bloom on the Deschutes River and water conditions are the best in years.  Crooked River continues to pump out good numbers of trout and the hatches of mayflies and caddis have been very reliable.  All Mt. Hood area "drive-to" lakes have been stocked and most are accessible.  The upper Hood River, Sandy River and Clackamas River drainages open next week end for catch and release trout fishing. The lower portions of these same rivers have fishable numbers of summer steelhead and Chinooks.

Termed the "Woodstock" of Northwest spey events, this year's Clave drew  approximately 700 people.    The weather on Saturday, May 17 was very non typical for this time of year as storm after storm moved through the Sandy River canyon.  In spite of the weather a good time was had by all and the demonstrations went on according to plan.  Gallons of hot coffee and chili were served by the hospitality crew and a rip roaring bonfire provided by the Oxbow Park folks helped make the inclement weather bearable.  There is no doubt that the quality of spey casting in the Pacific Northwest is evolving and we are on the leading edge.  All of the "on-the-water presentations" were filmed from three angles and hopefully there will be a collectors edition instructional video in the works.  Next years (2004) Clave is already being planned.
