WindCutter II® Spey Line
The original spey line, frequently imitated, never bettered. For 2009 the line features RIO’s XS Technology™ for an extraordinarily slick, dirt-repelling coating. It has an easy loading head between 45 ft (13.7 m) – 56 ft (17.1 m) (depending on the size) and is the most versatile of all spey lines. The WindCutter II is available in two formats: 1) a full floating line with a welded loop at the front end for attaching RIO’s VersiLeaders to, or 2) a VersiTip line with a body and a selection of 15 ft (4,6 m) tips. These tips are: floating, clear intermediate (1.5 ips, 4 cm/s), DC Type 3 (3 ips, 8 cm/s), DC Type 6 (6 ips, 15 cm/s) and DC Type 8 (8 ips, 20 cm/s) sinking tip and each tip features RIO’s thin, non-hinging welded loops. The WWF 5/6 does not include a Type 8 tip. The 4/5 is only available as a floating line. RIO has improved the VersiTip version for 2009 by removing the middle floating tip (Tip 2) that has been a standard in the past.
"I really like my job!  I get to field test the newest and best fly fishing tackle from the very best companies.  Often this happens in my back yard, fishing for steelhead and salmon.  These are demanding fish that require good skills and practical equipment in order to be successful.  Two-hand fly rods have made a huge difference in how successful fly anglers can be in our region.  The multi-tip WindCutter II fly line has been one of the reasons that two-hand fly rods have became popular here so quickly.  They are easy to cast and easy to fish.  The WindCutter II is one of the most popular two-hand fly line in the Pacific Northwest.  As soon as Rio announced that they were coming out with a new and improved version of the WindCutter, I ordered 3 sizes for field testing.  There is no doubt the the newest versions of the WindCutter are superior fly lines.  They are incredibly slick and

friction free.  You will cast further with the newest versions of these lines. The loop to loop connections flow through the rod guides with ease. Gone are the second set of loops connecting a mid-section. The running line is slick and tangle free.  It sure is fun field testing new stuff.",
says Mark Bachmann.
