Changeable-tip fly lines are very popular because they allow an angler to instantly customize a fly line to fit any fishing situation.  This is especially true if you fish a two-hand rod for anadromous salmonids. You might be fishing with a full floating lone one day and a fast sinking tip the next.  Changeable tip lines are appropriate for many situations when fishing saltwater as well as freshwater.
