RIO Tapered Leaders
Each RIO Powerflex knotless tapered leader is designed for superb abrasion-resistance as well as high knot and tensile strength. RIO knotless leaders have a high tech "best maximum pull" ratio to orient the molecules in a linear chain. This means that RIO's leaders return to their original taper after a fight.

Fluoroflex^® Plus This exceptional leader and tippet material is made from 100% fluorocarbon (PVDF). Fluoroflex® Plus is the strongest, thinnest fluorocarbon on the market with an incredible strength; for example, 5 lb for 5x material. It is a slightly softer material than Fluoroflex and ties excellent knots. The refractive index (1.42) of Fluoroflex Plus in water (1.33) compared to nylon (1.62) makes it almost invisible to fish. Fluoroflex Plus, with a density of 1.72
(compared to nylon of 1.15), sinks quicker and gets below the surface tension for more effective dry fly, nymph and wet fly fishing. 7x - 0.015 inches. 30 yds (27.5 m).

Powerflex® Tippet Material High tech, high tenacity copolymer with excellent knot strength and PTFE coating for abrasion resistance and elongation averaging 26%. Sometimes called double strength nylon. Used for all species, but especially good for trout tippets, the light gray color provides super camouflage in any sub-aquatic environment.

RIOMax Plus

We tested RioMax Plus on the Deschutes, while fishing for steelhead. We had no failures. RioMax Plus is designed to compete in the salmon/steelhead arena where Maxima has reigned supreme for 30-years. RioMax Plus is an incredibly tough, medium stiff tippet material, designed to be the most abrasion resistant nylon leader material available. It is perfect for fishing streamers for trout, and for salmon, steelhead, bass and for saltwater species such as bonefish and striped bass. A slick coating makes it very easy to tie knots. Straightens easily.

Trout Knotless Tapered Leaders Each RIO Powerflex knotless tapered leader is designed for superb abrasion-resistance as well as high knot and tensile strength. The long butt design provides smooth turnover while the supple tippet gives the fly life-like presentation. The graduated tapers have corresponding stepped butt diameters. Tapers are made with thick butts to turn over heavy flies and thinner butts for smaller flies. RIO knotless leaders have a high tech "best maximum pull" ratio to orient the molecules in a linear chain. This means that RIO's leaders return to their original taper after a fight. The light gray color is the most neutral and integrates visually with any background for the perfect camouflage.

Toothy Critter Leader 7.5 ft (2.3 m), .027" butt with an ultra stiff 15 lb bite tippet for casting big flies. For pike, bluefish, barracuda and similar species.
