Round rubber legs are popular additions to nearly every category of flies. Nymphs, wet flies, saltwater flies, bass bugs and even some tiny dry flies for trout sport rubber legs. Recently rubber leg material is even showing up on the newest steelhead and salmon patterns. Rubber leg material has been around since the early 1940's. The first rubber leg material was made by slicing a sheet of thin latex into narrow strips. The only colors available were black and white. These thin square legs were fairly fragile to the abuse caused by fish and deteriorated quickly from oxidation

and UV light rays. Now rubber legs are manufactured from silicone rubber which is more durable and much more resistant to deterioration caused by the elements. Every strip of rubber leg material is round in cross section. The translucent rubber legs come in both earth tones and bright vibrant colors. Two sizes are available to fit both small and large flies.
