| Rabbit fur on the hide is some
of the best material for tying big sub-surface flies. Probably no other
material has as much life-like movement when wet. Whether tied over the
back, Zonker style or palmered like a hackle, the fibers separate and
flow with life-like, seductive properties. Rabbit strip is also very
durable and easy to use.
However, its best quality is that as soon as it leaves the water, it collapses and on re-entry it puffs out. Flies tied with rabbit strip fish big, but cast small. The hides offered below are died to perfection. Some colors are rich and earthy, while others are bright and vibrant. All hides are very clean and glossy. Average dimensions are 8" x 12". These hides have many uses. You can cut a hide into sections. The center ridge of the back always contains the longest guard hairs and makes the best strips for Zonkers. The center 1/3 of the hide is best for cross cut strips. The sides of the skin are actually the belly of the rabbit and make the finest dubbing. These side pieces can be sheared for dubbing and the colors can be custom blended to your exact needs. Each hide contains enough dubbing in these side pieces for hundreds of flies. |

Packaged Black Barred Rabbit
Strips These strips have black dyed bars across them. This new pattern has been variously called Black Barred, Grizzly Barred or Tiger Barred. They mimic the barring found in nature on such fish prey items as, sculpins, crayfish, squid, shrimp and lots more. They are used to tie Brian Silvey's deadly new Tube Snake patterns, such as the ones shown below. The standard strips are 1/8" wide and include 4 strips per package, approximately four feet total. |

Packaged Tip Dyed Rabbit
Strips These strips are dyed a darker color at the tips of the hair. The first five colors with FS prefix are designed for, but not limited to the construction of flesh flies for use in areas, such as Alaska where trout eat copious amounts of decaying salmon flesh. The colors with a prefix of TT were designed for use as Zonker strips for tying imitations of bait that has a definite dorsal strip, or darker dorsal area. The strips can also be wound on a hook to create some unusual bunny buggers. The standard strips are 1/8" wide and include 4 strips per package, approximately four feet total. |

Whole Rabbit Hides We offer complete rabbit hides in the most popular colors, that are already sliced into strips. This will save you hours and the laborious task of cutting your own strips. These hides are squared and then cut into 1/8" wide strips. The strips are left attached at the head end of the hide so that they stay organized and easy to select. Each hide produces about (30-36) 10" to 12" strips. If you use a lot of rabbit strip, this is the best quality and the most economical way to buy it. 1/8" wide strips. |

| Packaged Cross Cut Rabbit
Strips Cross cut rabbit strip is normally palmered on the hook to form the body for streamlined bunny buggers. For a large suggestive bait fish pattern, dub a loose flowing body of LiteBrite or Flashabou Dubbing. Brush it back. Add a magnum rabbit strip zonker style for the back and three or four turns of cross cut rabbit strip for the head. This can make killer bass, pike and cuda flies. These 1/8" wide strips are cut cross wise of the hide. |

| European Hares Masks The mask of the European Hare is full of all kinds of interesting textures. Hares live in dense cover so it stands to reason that the end of the animal that goes through the brush first will contain some stiff protective guard hairs. The face of the rabbit and leading edges of the ears are armored with very stiff, short, curved, tapered hairs. These hares are banded tan and chocolate brown and match the colors of many aquatic insects. Most commonly Hares mask is sheared and blended for dubbing. Its spikey qualities simulate legs and gills. The hair from the natural Hare's Mask is banded light tan and dark brown. This banding effect is even more prominent when the mask is dyed or bleached. Dyed colors are natural earth tones. |
