Bullet Head Tools And Bullet Head Flies |
|
|
Used mostly on large dry flies, the bullet head is constructed by spinning stacked deer or elk hair tips forward over and beyond the eye of the hook and then pulling these tips back over the base of the wing. When the hair is distributed evenly around the hook shank, this method produces a head that is a blunt nosed, smooth cylinder. The hair is then secured with a band of tying thread. Flat waxed thread works best. Bullet head stone fly and hopper patterns are very popular as they cast easily and have great silhouettes. |
