Wahoos are giant mackerel that live out in the blue water. Some times they are near shore, but they roam the tropical Oceans of the world. They are highly regarded as sport fish for their blinding speed and spectacular jumps. The easiest way to catch Wahoo with fly gear is to chum them near the boat with live baitfish. Wahoo will often charge through this school of fish maiming as many as possible and then come back and pick up the

wounded fish at their leisure. A productive method for the angler is to simply cast a fly and let it slowly sink dead drift behind the boat. The best fly patterns are pinkish-red and have an epoxy head so that the fly will sink head first mimicking a wounded or dead fish. Wahoos have razor sharp teeth and require wire bite tippets.
