| Nymph fishing for steelhead is as controversial as it is productive. On rivers such as the Rouge and Umpqua it has proven to be so deadly that there have been attempts to out-law it as a fishing method. Problem is that unlike conventional steelhead methods where a fly is fished on the swing and it is to the anglers advantage to stay on the move, nymph fishing is more of a stationary or slow moving approach that allow anglers to hog the best water. Beyond the social aspects of fishing, nymph fishing for steelhead takes a lot of skill and should be regarded as a sporting method. Bringing an extra ordinary amount of fish to your hand is always lots of fun. Don't forget to give others anglers a chance too. | |
