Glass Minnow Flies
In the World's oceans, the majority of the fish are small. Small flashy baitfishes are the basic food for many species of larger sport fish. The Glass Minnow Flies listed above are meant to simulate 2 1/2" long flashy baitfish. They are tied

on stainless steel hooks. The designs are lightweight, aerodynamic and non- fouling. This means that you can cast them aggressively and confidently.
The bodies are reflective Mylar. Some patterns are over-wrapped with clear monofilament for extra deep shine and durability. The eyes are hand painted, then epoxy coated.
These flies have many uses in fresh water as well as salt water. Trout, black bass and pike are some of the fresh water specie that regularly feed on small flashy bait fish. The Blue Back pattern is effective on big trout that are feeding on juvenile Kokenee, in lakes. The Gray Back pattern is productive on large reservoirs, where trout, stripers or large mouth bass feed on juvenile shad. In cold northern oceans, salmon, rock fish, striped bass and cod can be caught on Glass Minnow Flies. Along the north Pacific Coast Glass Minnows are effective for salmon that are feeding in-shore along kelp beds on juvenile herring or candlefish. Blue Back, Blue/Green Back and Olive Back flies can all be effective at certain times. As you move south to warmer shores of California and Baja, small flashy baitfish fuel the schools of bonito, tuna and dorado. In the Caribbean, Glass Minnow looking bait fish can form immense shoals along the shorelines of many reefs, flats and Keyes. They are constantly under attack by tarpon, jacks, snappers and barracuda. Glass Minnows are best suited for game fish in the 3 to 10 pound range.
