Epoxy Flies

The first epoxy-head flies we ever saw were on an excellent tying video by Jimmy Nix. We were making epoxy flies for our forays to Belize in the early eighties. The Grand Slam Shrimp and Boom Creek Special are patterns that evolved during this era. They caught bonefish, baby tarpon, machaka and jacks. Some guy from Montana sent us some hooks with bead-chain eyes covered in a streamlined sheath of hot glue. We tried this method of tying and the Epoxy Mini Puff evolved. These Mini Puffs proved to be dynamite for bonefish and we even caught a couple of

permit on the white ones. The Fly Tail Shrimps feature a wiggle tail that has a seductive swimming action when the fly is retrieved. These flies are productive for many species of flats fish, including bonefish & redfish. The Redfish Ration flies are a must for the flats along coasts of the Gulf of Mexico from Florida to Texas.

Epoxy Mini Puff, Pink This can be a deadly fly on mudding bonefish. Sometimes bonefish will come to the sound of this fly hitting the water.
