Olive Crabs are important feed for bonefish in Belize and the Bahamas. Since crabs often match the color of the bottom structure they live in, try to match the color of the bottom with your fly. This fly works good in areas that have a sandy bottom sprinkled with sparse vegetation. |

| Placencia
Mud Crab Developed for the mud bottom lagoons south of Placencia, Belize, this fly has accounted for many permit. Cast the fly so that it lands about six feet ahead of the cruising permit and settles completely to the bottom. When the permit gets within about two feet of the fly, give your line a couple of quick sharp twitches to make the fly look like it is trying to burrow into the mud. Use a line pull to set the hook. |

| Placencia
Olive Crab Developed for the shallow coral flats off-shore from the coast of southern Belize. Here permit feed on small olive crabs. This fly has also accounted for many permit. Cast this fly very close to the nose of a tailing permit and let it settle. Be sure the line is tight when the fly lands and settlss to the bottom. The strike can be difficult to detect if there is slack in the line. Use a line pull to set the hook. |
