Many game fish can be caught year round. Most people do all their fishing during the warm months. Some great fishing is also available during the off-season. The water is less crowded, the fish less sophisticated. If you like solitude, fish when the weather is unruly. Having the right apparel is a major key to how much of the year you can fish effectively. Living and fishing in Oregon gives us a unique opportunity to test gear under a wide range of climatic conditions. One side of the Cascade Mtns. is rain forest the other is desert.

We fish the dry side when it's hottest and the wet side when it's coldest. Mid-summer clothing is designed to keep you cool in the heat. Breathable waders offer many advantages. As the weather and water cools in the fall, add a layer of fleece. When the

temperatures drop even further as winter approached add more layers. As the seasons change and the temperature drops, the precipitation often increases. Where we live it rains around 100 inches per year. We know something about dressing for wet

weather. If you're not dry, you're cold...we have learned how to prevent that! It starts with a protective shell of breathable Gortex which prevents penetration of exterior liquids while venting interior gaseous liquids. Within this water proof breathable shell you add layers of breathable insulation. You modify the interior layers to correspond to the exterior temperatures. Fit is important. How your clothing fits determines how you look, how you feel and how long your garments last.
