Nicole is a native and current resident of Bellevue, WA. Her love of fishing
began at a young age pulling Pacific Salmon from the saltwater off of big
boats in the San Juan Islands and afoot in the
Skagit River near her grandparents’ farm. It wasn’t until she was 13
or 14 that she took her first solo trip with Dad to
Campbell River BC, still using bait and conventional tackle, but
there was no mistaking the love of the sport with 4am wake up calls. Later,
in 1994, on her second trip to one of her family’s fly fishing and adventure
lodges in Chile, (South
America), she cast her first fly rod and found that this was a method
she could really get into. Appearing on and in magazines, calendars, fly fishing films, radio and tv interviews, and as a featured speaker around the country on her South American expertise, her performance talents have taken her to the small screen as host of an instructional tv series Fly Fisherman, which has proven to be one of the most satisfying accomplishments to date. In a male-dominated industry and sport, showing women and kids that we can have fun and hold their own on the water is what it’s all about. Finally, Nicole recognizes that doing her part to make a difference is vital in order to preserve our fisheries so that generations to come will be able to carry on the traditions she loves. Over the years, she and her family have been major participants and donors in supporting Wild Fish Conservancy in Washington State and Fish First headed by friend Gary Loomis. Gary influenced her decision recently to became one of the 50 founding members of the Coastal Conservation Association’s NW chapter whose mission is to save the Pacific salmon and steelhead and what might prove to generate the most impact yet on the fishery. |
