| Beginning Spey Casting Class Sponsored By: Simms and The Fly Fishing Shop |
|
Place:
Oxbow Park, Sandy River. First
Parking Lot Inside The Gate. Date: May 17th, 2013 Time: 12:30pm to 4:00pm Special 3 1/2-hour Introduction To Spey Casting Price: Free! 2013 finds a change in the agenda as the free casting class will be after lunch with the morning filled with presentations to better prepare students for their afternoon adventure.
Last year was the second "Beginner's Spey Casting Class" at the Sandy River Spey Clave. No doubt it was a resounding success with many first time casters getting their feet wet and learning about the 2 Handed rod. The demand was so great last year that this year we have continued room for 20 volunteer instructors and 100 students.
The design of this class is to offer beginning fishers the basics understanding of casting a two handed rod. We want you to walk away excited about fishing the 2-handed rod while having a foundation to listen to presentations throughout the weekend with a basic level of understanding. The class will cover grip, stance, basic casts and general Spey terminology. Many of the finest casting instructors and guides in the Northwest will be on staff to help guide you through the class.
What you need to bring?: If you own a two handed rod please bring it to use. Waders and boots are a great idea as the river is cold this time of year. We do have limited waders and boots as well as rods/reels for those that do not have any personal gear. If you are attending the class without tackle please be patient as we have limited quantities, we will do our best to get you casting and learning.
Simms Fishing Products is partnering with us on this event and will be giving away official Sandy River Spey Clave hats, stickers and other surprise items for all attendees.
